What is it?
"Space Effects" is a versatile After Effects template designed to help users create custom, high-quality space animations with ease. This template includes a variety of 3D space scenes featuring the earth, moon, sun, black hole, nebula, galaxy, comet, stars, planets, and a complete solar system. Customization is simple with slider controls, allowing you to adjust every element of the scenes without advanced After Effects skills.
This package is a major update to the popular "Space Effects Collection" template, bundling the Black Hole, Solaris, and Terra templates along with additional celestial bodies. "Space Effects" also offers 15 custom lens flares and a 360° star background for dynamic views. And with pre-animated comps and a comprehensive video tutorial, this template provides all the tools needed for totally out-of-this-world space animations!

Earth & Moon – From the Terra template, this 128MP earth model lets you separately customize the land in daylight, land at night, water, clouds, lighting, and atmosphere.

Sun – From the Solaris template, this sun uses real sun footage from NASA to form a realistic 3D sun that you can customize. It features various surface textures to choose from, solar flares, prominences, mass coronal ejections, custom heat haze effects, 10 heat-themed animated titles, and 19 blazing sound effects.

Black Hole – From the Black Hole template, this striking 3D black hole is modeled after NASA simulations, and features a spinning accretion disc, orbiting cloud matter, warping of the background stars, and an optional custom scene with stars being sucked down a 3D funnel.

Galaxy – A custom, twirling spiral galaxy, with 3D stars and nebulae made from particles.

Solar System – A custom model of our solar system, with lines representing the orbital paths of the planets. Easily enable scientifically and proportionally accurate orbit speeds, rotation speeds, planet sizes, or planet distances from the sun. Or, manually customize the behavior and appearance of each planet with the controls.

Nebula – Easily make beautiful, unique 3D nebulae with clusters of stars.

Stars – Multiple options for creating 3D star fields, star clusters, and wormholes.

Comet & Shooting Stars – Create realistic animations of shooting stars for the night sky in your video, as well as slow-moving comets with custom dust trails.

Space Fly-Through – A common animation that's all set up for you, with easy customizations options.

Planets – Ready-to-render models of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, with rings on the three outermost planets. Each planet has a custom atmosphere, and automatic lighting and shadows that update when you move the sun in 3D space.

Easy Customization – All celestial bodies have a control layer with intuitive controls for customizing your scenes. The video tutorial below, as well as written instructions found throughout the template, walk you through how to customize the effects.

Finished Animations – Included are 28 pre-animated comps for all the black hole, sun, and earth animations seen in the Black Hole, Solaris, and Terra demo videos.

360° Star Backgrounds – Choose from the included star and nebula images, or use your own image. The 360-degree stars allow you to view the celestial bodies from any angle.

Need to Know

This template is compatible with Adobe After Effects, v.17.0 (2020) and all later versions. Works on both PCs and Macs. No plugins required. All effects are 100% made in After Effects, and are completely customizable. A few minor features of the included particle effects will only work in AE 2024 or later, due to a 2024 update to the CC Ball Action effect.

The comps in this project are 4K (3840x2160), and can be changed to HD, 8K, or any other resolution in the Composition Settings panel, and the effects will work the same. Some solid layers may also need to be changed to fit the comp. The planet texture maps are all at least 8,000x4,000. The earth map is 16,000x8,000.

This template has been "universalized", so it will work in After Effects running in any language.

The total file size is about 1.5GB because of the included images and footage elements. Please allow plenty of time when downloading.

The Space Effects template is not a plugin, so there is nothing to install. Rather, it's an Adobe After Effects project file, commonly known as a "template" because most of the work is already done and the user needs only to make their own customizations. This template is compatible with version 17.0 as well as all later versions of After Effects.
